YouTube TV reaches a new agreement to keep the primordial content
After warnings that Paramount Content was about to disappear from Google YouTube TV’s Pay TV service, companies announced late Saturday that it had concluded an agreement that avoids any disruption of the availability of channels.
These announcements did not include many details on the agreement, but a declaration by a spokesperson for Paramount said that she understood “an extended streaming relationship”. Thus, not only will the Primetime Youtube channels continue to offer paramount + streaming services with Showtime and Bet + as complementary, but Google also obtains “the right to make paramount + available for qualified YouTube TV customers”.
YouTube TV is no stranger to high -level contractual disputes with media companies, including Disney. In his own ad, Google said“We are happy to share that we have concluded an agreement to continue transporting Paramount channels, including CBS, CBS Sports, Nickelodeon and more … For our subscribers, we appreciate your patience while we negotiate in your name.”
The company had warned in a previous blog article that all the primary content, including CBS and CBS Sports, would disappear from YouTube TV on February 13. There was a short -term extension when companies seemed to be close to an agreement.
At the time, Google said it “was fighting for an agreement that avoids transmitting additional costs and offers [subscribers] No more flexibility in the way you watch your favorite sports and emissions. “(Television providers would have been Fight for more flexible means to group the channelsespecially at the basic levels of their services.)
Meanwhile, the CO-PDG of Paramount, George Cheeks, Chris McCarthy and Brian Robbins sent to employees an internal memo describing Google as “little willing to accept reasonable terms consistent with the market, choosing to compromise the experience of Entertainment at the expense of consumers ”.
“The reality is that you cannot have a successful video product without paramount, one of the main media families visualizing television,” said CEOs.
