Trump names Sean Plankey as a new Cisa director
President Donald Trump appointed Sean Plankey to direct the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), according to a White House email sent to journalists on Tuesday.
Plankey has several years of experience in work for the United States government. In 2013, Plankey supported cybersecurity to the American forces deployed in Afghanistan, then worked at US Cyber Command, the American Coast Guard and the US Navy. He also worked in the previous Trump administration as Director of Cyber Politique at the National Security Council of the White House and later at the Ministry of Energy, according to Linkedin de Plankey.
Plankey did not respond to a comment request sent via LinkedIn.
Cisa was previously led by Jen Easterly, who left the agency Just before the start of the new Trump term in January. During his first mandate, Trump dismissed the inaugural director of Cisa, Chris Krebs, for having challenged Trump’s false allegations on electoral fraud.
The appointment of Plankey goes to the Senate for a vote. A voting date was not immediately provided.
