Chipset also includes progress for low -light photography, improved wireless audio sharing via Bluetooth and accelerated 5G connectivity on a larger range of networks.
In a press release, Qualcomm detailed the Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 mobile platform, which is the first in the series to use the 4NM process technology of the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), moving away from the node 4 nm Previously used from Samsung.
This processor marks an important step because it has CPU nuclei based on ARMV9, the Cortex-A720 serving as a main nucleus operating at 2.3 GHz. In addition, it includes three A720 performance nuclei clocked at 2.2 GHz and four Cortex-A520 efficiency cores operating at 2.3 GHz.
The mobile platform is equipped with a CPU in the Kyro series, an Adreno GPU and the Hexagon Qualcomm (NPU) neural treatment unit for AI tasks. Qualcomm claims that the Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 SOC offers 11% higher CPU performance, 29% faster graphic rendering and 12% of better energy efficiency.
However, the company has not disclosed specific details concerning the Adreno GPU. Regarding its features, the new chipset incorporates the Qualcomm AI engine, which introduces int4 support for the first time in this series, allowing a rapid treatment while optimizing models for devices with limited RAM.
