Smartwatch world expeditions fell 7% in 2024, marking the first drop

The SmartWatch sector has encountered an important challenge, marking a historical slowdown. After a prolonged period of coherent growth, global expeditions of intelligent watches experienced a drop of 7% in 2024, representing the first contraction in market history.

Counterpoint research attributes this slowdown mainly to a decrease in the momentum of the Apple market, to slow upgrade cycles and a slowdown in the basic segment of the SmartWatch, in particular in India.

Despite the overall contraction of the market, China has emerged as a notable exception, exceeding North America and India for the first time to guarantee the largest share of the world’s Smartwatch expeditions. This change was propelled by domestic leaders such as Huawei, Xiaomi, and BBK’s Imoo, which has effectively committed the increasingly active Chinese consumption market.

Although Apple, the long -standing leader of the Smartwatch arena, has maintained his position, he was faced with significant challenges. Apple Watch shipments fell 19% over the other year, hampered by interest -free upgrades in the range of the 10 series and the unexpected absence of an Ultra 3 model.

In addition, patent disputes have complicated the questions, leading to a reduction in expeditions to the first half. In North America, where Apple has a bastion, many consumers have chosen to delay their purchases, anticipating more substantial innovations.

On the other hand, Samsung has made noticeable progress, achieving growth of 3% over one year on the other, reinforced by its range of enlarged Galaxy watches, which included the first Ultra Galaxy Watch.

Xiaomi has also made significant progress, emerging as the SmartWatch brand, which experienced the fastest growth in 2024 and entering the top five world rankings for the first time, pulled by an aggressive expansion of its product portfolio, with models such as the S1 and Redmi Watch Watch Watch a considerable popularity in various regions.
