Patreon signs Podcast partnerships with Sony and Wondery
PatreonA subscription platform for online creators, GE has signed Podcasting partnerships with Sony Music Entertainment and Amazon’s Wondery, the company announcement Wednesday.
Patreon claims that partnerships are designed to make the site a domicile of the commitment of fans and exclusive advantages for the emissions of main podcast networks, while the company seeks to extend beyond its current podcast base.
The agreement means that Patreon will now offer some of the big names in the podcasting industry on its platform. The addition of larger partners will allow Patreon to stand out from other platforms that also support podcasts. As for Sony and Wondery, the partnership allows them to bring their content to more people to extend the scope of their podcasts.
Following partnerships, some Sony Music and Wondery podcasts will be available on Patreon, notably: “Getting Better with Jonathan Van Ness”, “Lipstick on the Rim” and “This is History” by Sony Music; And “Scamfluancers”, “Killer Psyche” and “Kurt Krömer – feelings” by Wondery.
Patreon said Podcasters on his platform had earned more than $ 472 million from more than 6.7 million paid memberships last year, making podcasting the most paid creativity category on the platform.
“Independent programs with networks, podcastors choose Patreon because it is a place where they can share their work directly with their audience, reach new fans, deepen links with existing members, manage their businesses and, finally, earn more money – all under one roof,” wrote the company in a blog.
Patreon plans to add more Podcasting partners in the future, he said.
