Nikon unveils Coolpix P1100 with Optical Zoom 125x and Digital Zoom 600X

Nikon unveiled the Coolpix P1100, which serves as a successor to the P1000 in its range of Super-Zoom Bridge cameras. Renowned for its exceptional zoom abilities, the P1100 maintains the remarkable 125x optical zoom which distinguished its predecessor, while incorporating several new features to improve its attraction.

The Coolpix P1100 is equipped with a zoom lens from 24 to 3000 mm (35 mm equivalent), all contained in a body of 3.1 pounds (1,410 grams). Although the 16.79 megapixel sensor is relatively small (type 1 / 2.3), it facilitates the range of extensive zoom.

The objective presents a floating opening which begins at f / 2.8 and shrinks at f / 8 at the end of the telephoto lens. In addition, the camera offers a digital zoom capacity which extends the range to a zoom equivalent of 12000 mm or 600x, but with a potential reduction in image quality.

To alleviate the effects of the camera shake and improve the sharpness of the image, Nikon has integrated double detecting optical virtual reality in the goal, which promises a reduction in vibrations equivalent to 4.0 stops at the center of the framework .

The P1100 is capable of saving a 4K video up to 30p, has a 3.2-inch var-angle LCD screen and includes Timelapse functionality. It also supports the clean HDMI output for users wishing to connect to external screens or recorders.

This version seems to be particularly intended for bird observers, because the P1100 introduces a mode of observation of birds with a selectable AF zone function. This feature allows users to assign camera functions to FN1 / FN2 buttons on the optional ML-L7 remote control, facilitating easier adjustments during shooting.

The Coolpix P1100 is a slightly higher price for its predecessor, the P1000 launched at $ 1,000, while the P1100 will cost $ 1,099.95 and is expected to be available at the end of February.
