Google brings a “canvas” functionality to Gemini, plus an audio overview
They say that imitation is the most sincere form of flattery, and Google seems to agree.
Tuesday, the company added functionality to its diet in AI Gemini Chatbot that the company calls the canvas. Similar in the concept in the identical name of Openai Chatgpt canvas tool And Anthropic artifactsCanvas provides gemini users with an interactive space where they can create, refine and share writing and coding projects.
“Canvas is designed for a transparent collaboration with Gemini”, wrote Dave Lemon, Director of Gemini Products, in a blog article shared with Techcrunch. “With these new features, Gemini becomes an even more effective collaborator, helping you give life to your ideas.”
Working spaces such as Gemini Canvas, Chatgpt Canvas and Artefacts are the last attempt at AI companies to transform their Chatbot platforms into full productivity. Dedicated workspaces can offer more precision than textual interfaces alone, as well as providing a means of previewing the code in real time.

Gemini Canvas, which can be launched via the gemini application’s fast bar on the web and mobile, allows users to write long messages with Gemini that they can then modify and refine. Using Canvas, users can update specific sections of a draft and adjust the tone, length and formatting via dedicated tools.
“For example, underline a paragraph and ask Gemini to make it more concise, professional or informal,” said Lemon in the blog post. “If you want to collaborate with other people on the content you just made, you can export it to Google Docs with a click.”
As mentioned above, Canvas also packages programming -focused capacities, including functionality that allows users to generate and preview HTML, the React code and other web application prototypes. Users can ask Gemini to make changes to an overview, and the canvas will refresh it.
“For example, let’s say that you want to create a subscription form by e-mail for your website,” wrote Lemon. “You can ask Gemini to generate HTML for the form, then preview how it will appear and work in your web application.”

With canvas, Google brings the overview of the audio Notebook In Gemini, the company announced on Tuesday. Google’s notebook has become viral last year for an audio overview, which creates podcast style audio summaries with realistic consonance of documents, web pages and other sources.
As with the overview of audio in Notebooklm, the audio overview in Gemini accepts files and content in a range of formats. Downloading a document via the prompt bar will trigger the shortcut of the audio preview, and once a summary is generated, it can be downloaded or shared via the Gemini application on the web or the mobile.
The canvas and the view of audio sets are available for free for users of Gemini worldwide on Tuesday. The preview function of the Canvas code is only on the web for the moment, and the summaries of the audio preview are limited to English.
