CISA electoral security officials are placed on leave: report
The American Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Safety Agency (CISA) would have placed several members of its electoral security team on administrative leave.
The Associated PressQuoting a person familiar with the situation, reports that 17 CISA employees have been on leave while waiting for the exam.
Employees had worked with electoral officials to counter a range of threats of cybersecurity, including ransomware and physical security of elections. According to the report, 10 of the employees were regional electoral officials hired to strengthen election safety before the 2024 elections.
The reported decision comes in a context of uncertainty about the future of the CISA, which was formed in 2018 during the first Trump administration. President Trump has not yet appointed a replacement for the former director of the CISA Jen Easterly, who left the agency on January 20.
When it was contacted to comment, the CISA postponed the Office of Public Affairs of the Ministry of Internal Security, which did not answer Techcrunch questions.
